BALPA is the leading professional association that represents the UK’s 10,000 commercial pilots.  Located close to London Heathrow, we are looking for a Head of Industrial Relations with a proven track record in an industrial relations leadership role to join our friendly team of trade union officials. Working within an established and well-structured industrial relations function, your main duties will be providing national-level, strategic leadership and professional industrial relations support to the full-time trade union officials and elected pilot representatives in the UK’s major airlines and helicopter companies.

The person we are looking for will be a strategic thinker, leader and team builder and will have the ability to negotiate and manage complex collective agreements and resolve trade disputes. The successful candidate will also have strong written and verbal communication skills. A commitment to voluntary organisations (including professional associations and trade unions) and a degree or postgraduate qualification in industrial relations/HR management are desirable. You will require a clean driving licence.
